"I am the Knight of Swords and this is my story.

I am chizeled, lean and effective in all my ways. I recognize the world has a need for the dandy, the bard and the rogue as seen in my other Knight brothers,
I am none of these.

I am the equalizer. My father (the King of Swords) calls upon me when situations have met a deadlock. The moment of negotiations has past.
I enforce the wishes of the King.

Words are a waste of time; akin to making daisy chains in a field - quite useless in the final analysis. Deeds and action speak louder than words in superfluous meetings at high counsel.

Although I have little use for talk, that does not mean I'm not thinking. On the contrary, I'm always thinking.

I have strategy on top of strategy in my mind, all of them acting out in choreographed precision.

  • My thoughts are like a well planned chess game. Sharp, accurate, and poised (five steps ahead) for the victory.
  • I've overheard my mother (the Queen of Swords) bemoaning my arrogance and headstrong nature.
  • If inciting my brand of justice is arrogance, so be it. I am usually always right in my estimations, I prefer the term "righteously confident" over arrogance.

Sometimes I hear people say: "The Knight of Swords may be too young to maturely deal with the challenges and battles of his time." I think youth is a handicap. If I were older, people would respect me more. I also hear people say I have a thirst for revenge and bloodlust. 'Tis true, I relish the heat of conflict. But my edges soften when I am coupled in romance. Adoration and personal pleasure are just as satisfying as battle and debate. (see the beauty of the Strength card since she tames the "inner beast" in me).

Men and woman both comment on my rugged good looks. I am chiseled, hard and well groomed. I've noticed objects of my desire usually melt into my muscular arms. My hands are calloused from holding the reins and the sword in practice and battle. My face still has the shadow of boyish youth, but the crows feet are beginning to make their tracks from hard squinting in the face of foes.

When I show up in the cards, I will tell you to TAKE ACTION.

I will tell you to ELIMINATE FEAR FROM YOUR PURPOSE.

I will not tolerate doubt, and questioning your inclination to proceed is unacceptable.

I will show up when you are at a dead end, and I am your secret weapon to slice through the enemy."

Some symbols from the Knight of Swords:

  • Birds or Feathers: The symbol meanings of the bird deals with higher thoughts and matters of the spirit. They are creatures of the air, so they symbolize higher ideals. They also represent freedom and ascencion. When the bird symbol pops out at us during a reading it is a message that we are rising to a higher level, that we need to free ourselves from bondage and we must make our hearts light.
  • Clouds: Clouds hold the symbol meaning of revelation. Consider out of the mists of our deepest thoughts suddenly an epiphany comes, a bright idea comes out from nowhere - this is the basic cloud symbol meaning. Depending on the card, clouds can also symbolize confusion or clouded judgment. Primarily, clouds represent higher thought and messages from the divine. Fly through other clouds in the cards.
  • Horse: Featured on all the knight cards of the Tarot, the horse symbol meanings deal with strength, motion, action, and vitality.

Linked in many ancient traditions with the four elements (fire, water, earth, air) the horse is also a strong spiritual symbol and an emblem of incorporating all the elements to maintain an equal, powerful balance with all things in the universe. This is evident in the "either/or" nature of the knights. In a more mundane sense, the horse is predisposed to have a charging nature.

In a reading, this gives us pause to consider where are you charging to and why?

Some Questions from the Knight of Swords:

  • Are you in a position to lead your troops?
  • Either lead and act with authority, or let someone else lead for you.
  • Do you have the strength of presence to take charge?
  • You will gain no respect from peers or lovers if they smell fear on you.
  • Are you dodging your purpose?
  • No more talk.
  • No more procrastination.
  • No more meandering.
  • Now is the time for action.
  • Take the reigns and move!

Key Words for the Strength Card number VIII (8) is:
  • Balance
    Strength
    Courage
    Patience
    Compassion
    Understanding
  • This is another Major Arcana card that doesn't beat around the bush - it's meaning is quite clear in both illustration and title.
  • Looking at the card we see a great deal of strength - but what kind of strength?
Is the young maiden exerting physical strength to subdue the lion?
Her face looks serene, her posture is calm - she doesn't appear to be struggling.
Yes, the Tarot card meaning here is that of strength - but not purely physical.

The young maiden in white (a symbol of purity) subdues the lion through a strength that is internal.

Through compassion, love, patience, and cunning, she is able to calm the lion into retreating into a behavior that is more manageable.

As with all allegories, the story of this Strength card is more than what meets the eye. The deeper meaning deals with having the compassion and understanding to sooth the savage beast within us in more effective ways than brute strength.

Simply put, the lion is our inner beast - that part of ourselves that "needs to feed."

This beast is always needing more money, more recognition, or it needs more food, alcohol or drugs to feel at ease. The pure maiden represents that part of ourselves that has the ability to nurture, calm and exhibit self-love. Only she can allay the ravenous "need beast."

The Royal Star of the Lion

The true strength of the Lion is victory over fear and union with your Soul.

    F.E.A.R. False Evidence Appearing Real
So once you deny the false evidence appearing real in your life, You are Free!

So, use the 23/5 energy in your life to create fearlessness in your life.

Richard Bach said ‘Listen to what you Know instead of what you fear.’
I know the BP is the perfect buyer that I have been waiting for. It is done--it is done--the house is SOLD.

Twenty six years ago 3/23/2011--I gave my first speech in Los Angeles at the Music Center to the WIB of greater Los Angeles. It is a reflective moment as I think back when I was covered in hives as I am today. There was not a doctor in all of Los Angeles that could take my FEAR away. I had to trust that there was a high power, a true strength, the strength of a Lion that would provide victory over my fear and unite with my Soul.

Today 3/23/2011 is a great day to remember that by myself ... I can do nothing ... because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. [John 5:30–32]

When we pull the Strength card it is certainly a message that strength is required for some challenges ahead. It's also a sign that we absolutely have the strength that is required of us. But on a subtle level, this card is a signal that we are already complete and self-love is the key to meeting our needs.

Strength indicates the importance of mind over matter, and reminds you to focus on what you do want rather than what you don't want in your life. Its main point is that you have the ability to harness your thoughts and to use them for your - and everyone else's - highest good.

Not only do you have the ability; you have the responsibility. So conquer your fears, control your impulses, and never lose patience with yourself or what you are doing.

INTERESTINGLY, The word STRENGTH is one of the longest English words with one syllable and only one vowel.

Strength in a Tarot spread is indication of the energy and inner strength that is needed to fulfill personal goals and aspirations.

This card, also known as FORTITUDE, shows a woman holding shut the jaws of a lion.

It represents determination and the correct use of energy in order to accomplish current aims.

The Lion in this card is symbol of strength and courage.
  • Often there is a woman shown on this tarot card and she represents the feminine side in everyone. This is suggestion of the more gentle and sensitive side taming the "inner beast".
  • The woman is not killing the lion but is quietly mastering it.
  • Strength is symbolized as discipline and inner determination.

Interpreting Strength as part of this UNION with the Knight of Swords

Strength (SHE) throws a protective influence over the person's world. It provides them with the stamina and endurance needed to face up to life's trials and tribulations. No matter what they are going through, they will be able to cope. Fate won't throw anything their way that can't be handled. They can overcome obstacles with courage and determination.
(HE) Knight of Swords is out there taking ACTION.

When this card appears in someone's spread, suggest that they might take a look around them. They will then start to notice people are there, willing to help and support them.

All they have to do is ask. This card also draws attention to matters of communication such as telephone calls, letters and gossip. These could open new doors for them. It is possible that someone who was born between July 21 and August 21 will be an important part of their life at the moment. Knight of Swords is a LEO.

This person will inspire them and put them in touch with their own creative talents and abilities. They will be amazed at the levels of stamina and persistence that make up their personality and they're going to be more in touch with the "real" person who is inside.

Quiet determination will bring them success.

Key Symbols Relative to Strength Card:

Lion: As mentioned above, the lion is a symbol for the primal urges - the physical needs and cravings we all, as humans want met. The lion is also a symbol of fire which burns within us - representing our wants and desires with a intense blaze. This is not to say that the lion all it represents is negative. On the contrary, many of us use our needs as motivators for achieving great things in our lives and reaching our goals. The key is to know thyself and temper our primal (ego) urges with our more divine, spiritual nature.
.

Mountains: Mountains symbolize aspiration, achievement, courage and accomplishment. In this case we can liken the mountain to challenges we face in our lives. As we look upon the Strength card and see the mountains in the distance we are aware that we will always be met with challenges in our lives. However, what makes climbing the mountain difficult or easy is the way we approach it.
.

Wreath: Wreaths symbolize completion and infinity (circle). A wreath or crown around the maiden's head is a symbol of victory. In this case, the wreath indicates victory can be claimed in the battle against banal or primal urges that do not serve us. There is hope and understanding when we realize we can achieve harmony in our hearts, and balance can be won.

Ace of Swords 55/10/1

Key Words for the Ace of Swords:

Focus
Force
Clarity
Vision
Insight
Intensity

The ace of swords has to do with aligning yourself.

Visually, this card is clearly making a statement of solidarity. When we see the strength of that sword standing erect in the center of this card, there is no doubt in our mind that we must focus upon the issues at hand (indicated by surrounding cards) and make our stand.

Often the ace of swords deals with gaining clarity in our lives after a long bout of disillusionment. Often this card appears in matters of LOVE when the ties need to be cut in a relationship.

This is particularly the case in one-sided relationships where the partner requires (excessively so) more of attention than you.

This confirms the ace of swords meaning as this card signals its beaming light to you. This card cries out "this is your time, the focus is on you!"

But what kind of focus?

The suite of swords in a Tarot deck deals with thoughts and awareness. They've also been identified as symbols of challenges or conflict in our lives.

Aces in the Tarot deck indicate new beginnings. They are also power cards, and rank high in the trumping factor in a reading, their power weighing in evenly with Major Arcana cards.

This being the case, we can make a simple assessment that the ace of swords is symbolic of uncovering a new way of thinking.
Or, a cutting away at some old thought to make way for a brighter perspective.

More specifically, the ace of swords is a call to stop fooling ourselves and start looking into the crux of the matters of our soul.

The ace of swords is bright and brassy. There is no room for excuses with this card, and it demands full honesty of the querent in a reading. ALL excuses are equal.

This card resonates to the vibrational frequency of the number one, not only because it is the beginning of the suite (ace), but also because the erect sword visually mimics the number one.

This means that new projects, ideas, thoughts, or relationships are on the horizon.

Due to the sharp nature of this card, you had better be mindful and clear about your intentions first before starting these new ventures.

Key symbols pertaining to the ace of swords:

CROWN: Yes, we might initially think of royalty or nobility when considering the symbolic meaning of crowns. But consider where the crown rests, on one's head of course.

Consequently, the crown in the ace of swords is a symbol of thought.
Specifically, the clarity and force behind your thoughts.

Use this visual image to slice through all the distracting thoughts you may have about an issue and point your mind squarely to the core of the matter. This kind of keen focus will see your way to success.

ROSE: shows a red and white rose in the ace of swords card.

These roses are symbolic of choices that we make.

We can either (mentally) chose to see our lot in life as a work of beauty, or we can focus on the thorns and pain. The rose on this card also symbolizes the delicate process of our thought. Meaning: just as a gardener tenderly cards of a rose to assure continually beautiful blossoms, so too must we take responsibility to nurture our thoughts to insure positive outcomes.

CLOUDS: Cloud symbol meanings in this card indicate confusion and distraction.

We notice the image of the sword victoriously rising above the cloying clouds in seek of the highest point of inspiration. This is a visual message to us that we must rise above the chatter (nay-sayers, conflict, media, negativity) and aspire to our own greatest thoughts in order to make our way to mental clarity and success.

Just from these few and simple symbols we can see a pattern of understanding:

When we work towards clarity of thoughts, and choose the proper thoughts for our purpose, we reach the epitome of our goals, obtaining our crowning achievements.

Some points of contemplation about the ace of swords:

  • Simplify your situation. Clear away the CLUTTER. Let Go of your STUFF.

  • Focus on the main issue and listen to your own inner guidance

  • Are you choosing crowning achievements or strife in your life? CHOOSE! DECIDE!

  • Don't be distracted by doubt or negativity around you. Take no detours.

  • Continue to ASK: What do "I" want from this new venture or relationship?

    Now the 55 reduces to a 10, and 10 then reduces to a 1

Wheel of Fortune 10/1

Key Words for the Wheel of Fortune:

Luck
Chance
Change
Destiny
Revolution
Consequence

As a whole, the Tarot system focuses on personal responsibility. Meaning, the underlying persuasion of each card places the responsibility of life events squarely on YOU, the individual.

You are in charge of your life, and the consequences of your thoughts and deeds shape your lives.

With that said, even the most ancient of philosophies have to admit sometimes "things just happen" and there's no way to trace back a cause. Sometimes things take place in our lives that appear to be pure happenstance..."dumb luck" some people call it.

The Wheel of Fortune card represents those events in our lives that come out of nowhere.

They come in the form of unexpected surprises, a promotion we weren't needing / wanting / requesting - an inheritance from a relative you didn't even know you had or a surprise visit from a friend you haven't thought about in years.

The Wheel of Fortune is a very auspicious card.

When pulled in a reading it generally indicates a happy, unexpected event is in the works.
However, take a look at the card, and you see an unfortunate fellow falling off the side.

As is the nature of fate, sometimes surprises aren't so happy. It is important to note here that what is "good" or "bad" is all in our interpretation. When what may appear as an unsavory event showing up unexpectedly in our lives we must try our best to recognize some potential good from the situation. We may not see any benefit in the tragedy - but down the line (when the Wheel turns again) circumstances from that tragedy may lead to amazing and positive influences.

The Wheel of Fortune is also about consequence.

Although we've recognize that sometimes "stuff happens" this card also addresses the cyclical nature of life. Simply put, this card is a message that says "what goes around, comes around." When this card appears in a reading, it may mean that we should consider our actions and how they are affecting ourselves and others around us.

This is in line with the concept of Karma which is a philosophy that proposes every action we take affects everything else - what we sow, so shall we reap - for every action there is an equal reaction.
This is an important concept to grasp.

When we approach our lives with this in mind, we tend to invest more quality time in our thoughts and actions. If we took just a few moments considering the effects of our thoughts and actions, we might reap more benefits for ourselves.

Key Symbols Relative to Wheel of Fortune:

CLOUDS: Clouds are typically a symbol of "that which is higher" - higher thought, higher energy, etc. In this case, the clouds are a symbol of a higher power at work in the events of our lives.

As mentioned earlier - sometimes things just happen - and the symbol of the clouds represents events "coming out of the ether" and moving our lives in an unexpected direction.

FALLING OFF: It's inevitable, as the wheel turns, a few things are going to fly off to make room for new things. It's the nature of evolution and revolution. As already mentioned, it's important to consider our approach to loss. If we view loss as a bad thing - this is exactly what it will be.

If, however, we observe a removal as being an opportunity, we broaden our persective and allow for positive change. The illustration of "falling off" is also representative of beliefs and ideas. As we have new ways of thinking about things, our old ways of thinking must drop off. It's simply the way life works.

WHEEL: As the central star player on this card, it's important to take a close look at the symbolism of the Wheel. Since ancient man, the Wheel has been a symbol for mobility, revolution, and cycles.

Used in WORK, the wheel has enabled man to perform more efficiently.

Used in RITUAL, the Wheel is symbolic of the natural flow of energy.

When we consider the ease of the Wheel turning and flowing in motion, we are reminded of how our own lives move in much the same manner. Although we have old and new events - the hub of the wheel (symbolic of ourselves - our core nature) remains the same.

Key Questions Relative to the Wheel of Fortune :

  • Are you feeling lucky? Why?

  • How are you handling the changes in your life?

  • Are you looking at both RISK and REWARD?

  • How can a "loss" be a very good thing for you? And, how will you appreciate the "gains".

  • Have you taken the time to consider the consequences of your thoughts and actions?

"
I am the Page of Swords and this is my story.

It's not easy growing up in the kingdom of Swords, and I deal with the conflict by escaping into the fantasies of my own mind.

My parents tell me I am distracted and day-dreamy, that if I only applied myself I could accomplish so much more.

What they don't realize is that in my day dreams I am re-building the entire universe. In my mind there are fantastic sky scrapers, communities of utopia and amazing accomplishments in technology.

My mind is not as "in the sky" as everybody thinks it is. On the contrary, like the other pages in the cards, my station is affiliated with the earth, so I can be very grounded when I have to be (usually when I am working, and when I need to meet a time limit).

As the Page of Swords, this gives me a great knack at discernment. I know the difference between fantasy and reality. Consequently, I have magnificent clarity. This aspect of me is often overlooked by others, which is a big mistake. I should be called upon when the natural flow and order of things needs to be identified in any project.

Because of my association with the earth, along with my sword affiliation with the air, I have a unique understanding of the cyclical nature of things. I am keen on concepts of rebirth, renewal and expansion by organic, naturally evolutionary modes.

In spite of the common perception that the Page of Swords is mostly wistful, my personality type tends to mature into an extremely effective innovator.

With age, I carry a meaningful message of regeneration. Meaning, I contribute greatly in fields of technology, renewable energy, and other cutting-edge ecological fields. I'm particularly intrigued by biology because it combines nature with science.

I am usually tall and gangly, and much to my chagrin I seem to get hung up in puberty for an interminable amount of time. You'll know this by the apparent awkwardness in my own skin and an unfortunate tendency for acne. My hair color ranges from blonde to reddish brown, and my eyes are blue as the skies I am always peering into.

When I pay you a visit in the cards, I am going to ask you to remember how you felt when you were my age. I present a mixture of nervous energy joined with calm assurance that everything will roll my way. I am the dreamer who can apply those dreams with uncanny alacrity and clear-minded intelligence
."

Some symbols in the Page of Swords:

Bird: The symbol meanings of the bird deals with higher thoughts and matters of the spirit. They are creatures of the air, so they symbolize higher ideals.

Clouds: Truth may be hidden behind the clouds. The birds in the clouds represent the roving thoughts that will help the page in attaining his GOAL, however, investigation and mental application are required.

Earth: On some level, all threads of life are first woven with the fiber of Earth. This interconnectedness reminds us not only is the earth a stabilizing and a wholly physical symbol, it also represents a network. Earth is synonymous with belonging. She represents community and shared wisdom.
Earth also embodies the concept of solid ground. We've released the limitations of the "small mind" and returned to the foundation our true nature.

Some Questions the Page of Swords asks us:

Renewable, Rebirthing, Regeneration.

Introduction to the Hermit Tarot Card Meanings:
In our fast-paced, harried world of today, we would all do well to do as the hermit does.
The Hermit's stride is slow but sure.
He takes each step with a deliberate, conscious approach - knowing that each step of the journey is a small imprint upon the larger picture of his path.
He does everything in this manner - each breath he takes, each word he speaks, every decision he makes is a deliberate act.

This is one prime source of the Hermit's wisdom. In recognizing that each of our thoughts and actions is a brick we use to build our lives, we partake in the creation of our own reality.
The Hermit has had to learn this lesson by means of distancing himself from the regular, routine world. By removing himself from the "normal" stream of societal thought, the Hermit is able to listen to the inner stirrings of his own intuition and act upon it.

In much the same way, by turning off our telephones, switching off our televisions, and removing ourselves from the barrage of external chatter - we are able to finally hear the small voice from within that leads us to higher ground.

The Hermit walks a fine line. By purposefully choosing to remove himself from society he also runs the risk of being misunderstood and labeled inappropriate. These labels do not concern him as his path of spiritual knowing and higher wisdom are his prime concerns.

The path of the Hermit is certainly not for everyone, but we all have parts of ourselves that need a little quiet time at the least. When the Hermit shows up in a reading it often refers to a need to be still, contemplate, meditate, observe what is going on before any further action is taken.
